The 11th Annual Spooky Mad Science Expo is back, bigger and more exciting than ever, packed with brand new interactive zones, mind blowing live experiments, and unforgettable surprises around every corner!
Join us on Saturday, October 17, 2026, officially proclaimed as Spooky Mad Science Expo Day, for an incredible afternoon of hands-on STEAM adventures, creativity, and pure wonder.
Every year, dozens of top-tier organizations, prestigious universities, national and local institutions, local innovators, scientists, artists, and community partners come together to ignite the curiosity of the next generation. But that’s not all, this year we are hosting a special official ceremony! In a thrilling highlight for our community, the Mayor of Alexandria officially declared October 17th as "Spooky Mad Science Expo Day", and the Mayor and City Council will join us to present this prestigious Proclamation!
Whether you’re a family looking for a magical day out, a vendor or corporate partner wanting to showcase your work, an artist, or an individual scientist ready to inspire young minds, this is your invitation to be part of Fun and Excitement of STEAM.

Hundreds of future astronauts, engineers, scientists, and mathematicians come out to the Chrysalis annual Spooky Mad Science Expo – a fun, interactive, captivating and educational event that combines Halloween with science projects. This mid-October event is held with the participation of volunteers from organizations like the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, National Science Foundation, NASA, Boeing, American Chemical Society, USPTO, and the American Institute of Architects, and many more!
Podcasting 101 Workshop

In celebration of Chrysalis Development Group’s 10 Year Anniversary of the Spooky Mad Science Expo, join us for the final session of the Podcasting Training Course, facilitated by award-winning producer and podcaster Angela N. Livas, founder of & ALIVE Podcast Network. Register for this 4-week workshop by September 15th, and participate in the finale held at the Spooky Mad Science Expo. Limited Spots Available!
